The Cape Town Diwali Festival now in its fourth year, will host a Toy Drive as part of its activity program planned for 2012. The Festival will once again be hosted at Ratanga
Junction on the 27 October 2012.
The Toy Drive is putting out a call to all attendees to the festival to bring along a toy that needs a new owner. We so often have toys lying around that our children are no longer interested in. By recycling toys you have the ability to delight a child who has never known the joy of being spoilt with toys. This is in keeping with the spirit of reconciliation and sharing that Diwali encompasses. Toys may be dropped off at the DSTV Indian Play Room at Ratanga Junction on the day of the festival.
The beneficiary of the CTDF Toy Drive is Lentegeur Hospital in Mitchells Plein. This year’s festival again promises to delight Cape Town audiences with a jam packed program. There will be stalls selling a variety of Indian food, sweetmeats and delicacies, the latest clothing imported from India, henna tattoo artists, tarot readers, and Indian head massage.
A supervised, safe kid’s play-area hosted by DSTV Indian and will boast fun activities for young people. There will also be live Indian dance and music, lifestyles workshops and performers to ignite the spirit of Diwali.
Doors open at 11am and the festival culminates in a spectacular outdoor fireworks display at midnight. Ticket prices are an affordable R50 per head with children under 5 free.
Bookings through Computicket.
