Ratanga Junction recently played host to the 12-strong Kenyan Maasai Warriors Cricket team which was participating in last week’s biennial Last Man Standing World Championships an amateur global league.
The trip was an all-round first for the team, who is coached by a South African cricket player, Aliya Bauer. It was their first time to travel by air, their first trip out of Kenya, their first experience playing on a proper cricket pitch and their first ever visit to a theme park.
Decked in their traditional attire, the team, who are traditional herdsmen in Kenya and have only been playing cricket for a year, took to the Ratanga rides as if born to them.
The team took the opportunity of the tour to raise awareness for the HIV/Aids pandemic and other challenges in their country.
