General Competition and Park Rules (T's & C's)

  1. These are the standard terms and conditions for competitions conducted or promoted by or in association with Ratanga Junction Theme Park.
  2. Your entry into the competition and/or your acceptance of a prize (in the event that you win a prize) constitutes your binding acceptance of the terms and conditions on behalf of yourself and any person with whom you may share a prize (in the event that you win a prize which is for you and one or more additional persons (“your partner”).
  3. Should you win tickets in any of our competitions, please note that tickets are non-transferrable. Eg. Should a guest win 2/3/4/5 tickets, then 1 ticket , must be redeemed and used by the winner.  These tickets may not be used on exclusive days.
  4. Employees (or members of the families or households of employees) of Ratanga Junction or any company involved in our previous, current or future Competitions or any advertising agency or web company connected with the Competition or any such person’s subsidiary or associated companies, are not eligible to enter the Competition. Ratanga Junction reserves the right not to award a prize (and to select an alternative winner) if Ratanga Junction is aware or has reasonable grounds to believe that a winner is not eligible.
  5. By entering the Competition, you hereby warrant that all information submitted by you is true, current and complete. Ratanga Junction reserves the right to verify the eligibility of all entrants.
  6. Where a Competition is open to all age groups, Ratanga Junction assumes that by using the website or our Social media channels and entering the Competition (and you warrant that) you are aged 18 or over or, if you are under 18, that your parents have consented to your entry into our Competitions and these Rules. If a Competition is only open to a certain age group (e.g. 18 and over), this will be set out in the Competition Notice and Ratanga Junction assumes that by entering the Competition (and you warrant that) you are the appropriate age to enter the Competition).
  7. Ratanga Junction reserves the right to disqualify any entrant if it has reasonable grounds to believe the entrant has breached any of the Rules.
  8. In the event that any entrant is disqualified from the Competition, Ratanga Junction in its sole discretion may decide whether a replacement should be selected. In this event, any further entrant will be selected on the same criteria as the original entrant and will be subject to these Rules.
  9. Prizes are non-transferable and there is no cash alternative. Ratanga Junction reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value at any time.
  10. Where a prize may not be appropriate for a younger contestant, the minimum age for entry will be stated in the Competition Notice and must be observed. Ratanga Junction reserves the right to request written proof of age of any winner.
  11. Competitions is limited to residents ofSouth Africa, and with the exception of the following people: 2.1 directors, members, partners, promotional and advertising agents, merchandisers, employees or consultants of Ratanga Junction (South Africa) Pty Limited and organisers of the Competition. 2.2 people who are not legal residents and legal citizens of the Republic of South Africa; 2.3 spouse, life partner, parent, child, brother, sister, business partner or associate of any of the persons specified in 2.1 above;
  12. Winners may be required to sign acceptance of prizes and indemnity documents.
  13. No substitution or cash redemption of prizes is permitted.
  14. The judge’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
  15. Once winners have consented, their names will be announced on ALL our Social platforms.
  16. If the potential prize winner(s) does not reply to our email or answer the phone call made, or message will be left for them to return the call by 3pm on the same day. If after THREE attempted telephone calls or emails for whatsoever reason, including incorrect telephone numbers, email addresses or inoperative telephone numbers, such a potential prize winner may be disqualified and a runner-up finalist will be deemed the potential prize winner subject to the terms and conditions herein.
  17. Please note that selected park operating days are booked for Fun-(d)Raising Days as well as Exclusively booked park days which may not be available to the public guest.
  18. The terms and conditions of this competition are subject to change without any prior notice.

  • Occasionally due to inclement weather, our Operating Times are subject to change without notice. It is recommended that you call 021-5508504 (between 08h30-17h00) to confirm operating times during park operating days.
  • On any Fun-(d)Raising Days and Exclusively booked park days, all park rider ticket promotions as well as Birthday & complimentary tickets become null ‘n void.

General Park Operating Times: 10am - 5pm

  • Do you offer rain checks? Rides may be closed temporarily during electrical storms, rain or high winds. Rides will re-open as soon as safe operations can be assured. Refunds or re-invites for inclement weather are not offered.
  • Do we issue refunds? No refunds will be issued.

Park Island:

  • Wrist bands are not transferable, and must be placed on wrist before entering the park.
  • All facilities are used at own risk and management reserves the right to limit entry into the park and/or to evict any person, without refund, not abiding by the General Rules and Boarding Notices.
  • Under no circumstances will management or the owners accept liability for any losses or damages sustained by any person howsoever arising.
  • Certain Rides are subject to age, height and other, especially medically related restrictions. Please consult Boarding Notices at each Ride.
  • Performances, operating times, prices, availability of rides and other facilities are subject to change without notice or refunds at Management’s discretion.
  • No firearms or other dangerous objects are allowed into the park under any circumstances and any offenders will be prosecuted without exception.
  • No offensive behaviour whatsoever, will be permitted at the Park.
  • Please exercise caution around the canals, large water bodies and bridges inside the park, as Management will not be held responsible for any incidents whatsoever.
  • No pets, skate boards, roller blades, radios, or bicycles are allowed into the park.
  • All children 12 and under are permitted entry subject to a responsible adults supervision.
  • Guests must be fully dressed, including shoes and shirts, at all times in keeping with the family theme promoted at Ratanga Junction.
  • No advertising in any form by the Public in the park is permitted.
  • Guests may not bring their own food or beverages into the park.
  • All signage inside the park is in English. If any instruction is unclear, please ask Guest services for assistance.
  • Management reserves the right not to sell alcoholic beverages to persons under the age of 21 years.
  • Absolutely No reserved seating on ANY ride. Seats will be issued as per the queue line. Failure to comply will result in expulsion, without refund, from the park.
  • Ride queue hopping or jumping is strictly forbidden. Failure to comply will result in expulsion, without refund, from the park.
  • Management will not tolerate any abuse towards staff.  Failure to comply will result in expulsion, without refund, from the park.

Safety & Security

Kindly Note for Your Safety and Enjoyment Please read the conditions of entry & park information at the main entrance. Park staff will be happy to assist you with any queries.

  1. No Pets are allowed in the park.
  2. No weapons or dangerous objects are allowed in the Park.
  3. No food or beverage is allowed to be brought in to the Park.
  4. Complimentary lockers are available and locks can be purchased at Guest Services at R22 per lock.
  5. Footwear must be worn when entering the Park.
  6. Smoking, eating or drinking is not permitted on the rides.
  7. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the ride queue lines.
  8. Guests may not leave the Park with alcoholic beverages.
  9. Film & / Photographic crews may be working in the Park. If you do not wish to appear in any of this footage, please stay clear of these areas.
  10. Certain venues, attractions, shows or shops may be closed for functions or refurbishment. Temporary closures may occur without notice.
  11. Wheelchairs are available for a nominal hire fee from Guest services. Pram hire R45
  12. Ratanga Junction is a family Park; please help us maintain our high standards by ensuring that the park procedures are adhered to.
    Parking
    Please pay your R20 per vehicle on entrance at the parking entry booms.
    Lost Children
    Contact Guest Services at the main entrance in the event your child is lost or notify the nearest security officer.
    Pay Phones
    Pay phones are located in the Walled City main stage area.Lost Property
    Lost items may be reported, identified or claimed at Guest Services. Ratanga Junction is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

Assisted Guest / Disability Policy

Ratanga Junction welcomes disabled, and assisted guests to the Theme Park.

However, we regret that due to our strict Health and Safety requirements, visitors with physical or mental disabilities may not make use of the parks thrill rides. This policy is in line with stringent international safety standards of Theme Parks around the world and has been put in place to ensure the safety of all our visitors since guests must have the physical strength and ability to safely evacuate from a ride in case of an emergency.

Disabled guests are invited to enjoy many of the other attractions we have on offer like the midway games, daily dance show, etc.

Disable and wheelchair guests are asked to contact the Guest Services office prior to their arrival, so the Park can assist them before they enter the park.

Dress Code

Ratanga Junction Theme Park is a family theme park and therefore must enforce its dress codes accordingly. Ratanga Junction reserves the right to exclude visitors to their gated attractions who wear clothing that could create a distraction. This policy is in effect for all amusement park areas:

  • Clothing displaying offensive messages / language
  • Adult costumes or clothing that can be viewed as a costume (children under age 10 are excluded)
  • Bachelor / bachelorette party or adult Halloween costumes
  • Clothing made with offensive material (i.e. transparent)
  • Clothing that is excessively torn
  • Clothing which exposes inappropriate portions of the body such as string bikini tops, G-strings, bikini bottoms etc.
  • Guests wearing wedding attire are discouraged from entering the Theme Park
